Track 1 – Hollyfield Park map

Section 1, Questions 1–5. Look at the map for 30 seconds, then listen once and write the letters.

Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Hollyfield Park. My name’s Sarah, and I’m one of the park rangers. Before we start our walk, I’d like to show you where everything is, so please have a look at the map I’ve given you. We’re standing at the main gate, at the bottom of the map.

If you follow the main path straight ahead, the first building on your left is the visitor centre. You can pick up free leaflets and maps there. Just past the visitor centre, on the same side of the path, you’ll see the children’s playground.

Now, a lot of people ask about the café. It used to be next to the playground, but last year it moved. It’s now opposite the playground, on the right-hand side of the path, looking out over the pond.

Keep walking, and you’ll come to a crossroads. Turn left there, and at the end of that path, in the far corner of the park, is the rose garden. It’s at its best in June.

Finally, the toilets. These are between the café and the car park, so they’re very easy to find.

Right, are there any questions before we set off?

Track 2 – Summer activities

Section 4, Practice B, Questions 12–16. Predict the type of word for each gap, then listen once. Write ONE WORD ONLY.

Before we go, let me tell you about some of the things happening in the park this summer.

First of all, it’s been a very busy year for our volunteers. They’ve planted more than two hundred new trees, mostly oak and beech, along the northern edge of the park.

If you’d like to learn more about the wildlife here, why not join one of our guided walks? They leave from the boathouse at ten o’clock every Saturday morning, and they’re completely free.

For families, there’s something special on Sunday mornings. Children are welcome to go fishing in the pond between eight and eleven. We provide all the equipment, so they don’t need to bring anything.

Our bird-watching sessions start at six in the morning, when it’s still quite dark, so please remember to bring a torch. Binoculars are useful too, if you have some, but we can lend you a pair.

And finally, the outdoor cinema is back in August. Last year, tickets cost five pounds, but this year they’re just three pounds, so it’s a great night out for the whole family.

Track 3 – Westbridge Museum

Section 6, Questions 27–34. Use the reading time, then listen once only, like the real test.

Plan of Westbridge Museum, ground floor

Hello, and welcome to the Westbridge Museum. I’m going to give you a quick guide to the ground floor, so please look at the plan in your leaflet. At the moment, you’re standing in the entrance hall.

The ticket desk is straight in front of you. The cloakroom, where you can leave coats and bags, is on your right as you come in, in the corner next to the main doors.

Go through the double doors at the back of the entrance hall, and you’ll be in the main gallery. The dinosaur skeleton is in the centre, so you can’t miss it. The gift shop was on the left of the gallery until recently, but it’s now on the right, beside the lift.

At the far end of the gallery, turn left into the corridor. The first room you come to is the education room, where school groups have their workshops. The last room on that corridor is our new photography exhibition.

Now, a few practical details. Our café is up on the top floor, and it has wonderful views over the river. Since it opened in 1998, the museum has welcomed more than three million visitors. Audio guides are available at the ticket desk for four pounds fifty. And you’re welcome to take photographs anywhere in the building, except in the map room, because the old maps are very sensitive to light.

Enjoy your visit.
