Narrator: Part one. You will hear a man phoning a community centre about an evening course. First, look at questions one to five. Stop the audio now, read the questions, and press play when you are ready.
Narrator: Now listen and answer questions one to five.
Emma: Good afternoon, Riverside Community Centre. Emma speaking. How can I help?
Daniel: Oh, hello. I’m calling about your evening courses. I saw the leaflet in the library, and I’m interested in the photography course for beginners.
Emma: Lovely. That’s one of our most popular courses. Would you like to book a place?
Daniel: Yes, please, if there’s still space.
Emma: Let me check. Yes, we still have a few places. Can I take some details? What’s your name?
Daniel: Daniel Kowalski.
Emma: Could you spell your surname for me?
Daniel: Sure. It’s kay, oh, double-you, ay, el, ess, kay, eye.
Emma: Thank you. And what’s your address, Daniel?
Daniel: It’s fourteen Elmfield Road. That’s ee, el, em, eff, eye, ee, el, dee.
Emma: And that’s here in Kingsford?
Daniel: Yes, that’s right.
Emma: And the postcode?
Daniel: Kay tee seven, three bee double-you.
Emma: Kay tee seven… sorry, was that three bee double-you, or three vee double-you?
Daniel: Bee for brown. Three bee double-you.
Emma: Got it. And a contact number?
Daniel: My mobile is oh seven nine one two, four four six, eight three oh. Oh, sorry, no. I always get that wrong. It’s four four six, three eight oh.
Emma: So that’s oh seven nine one two, four four six, three eight oh.
Daniel: That’s it.
Emma: Now, the course runs on two evenings. There’s a Tuesday group and a Thursday group. Which would you prefer?
Daniel: Tuesday would be best for me.
Emma: Oh, I’m sorry. I’ve just checked, and the Tuesday group is full.
Daniel: Ah. Well, Thursday’s fine. I play football on Thursdays, but I can change that.
Emma: Great, so I’ll put you down for Thursday.
Narrator: Before you hear the rest of the conversation, look at questions six to ten. Stop the audio now, read the questions, and press play when you are ready.
Narrator: Now listen and answer questions six to ten.
Daniel: Can I ask a few questions about the course itself?
Emma: Of course.
Daniel: When does it start?
Emma: The next course starts on the twelfth of November. We did have one starting in October, but that’s already full.
Daniel: November is fine. And how long is it?
Emma: It used to be a ten-week course, but this year we’ve made it a little shorter. It’s now eight weeks, with one two-hour class each week.
Daniel: That sounds good. What about the cost?
Emma: The full price is one hundred and twenty pounds. But if you live in Kingsford, you get a discount, so for you it’s ninety-five pounds.
Daniel: Oh, great. That’s much better than I expected.
Emma: You can pay online, or at reception before the first class.
Daniel: Do I need to bring anything? I haven’t got much equipment.
Emma: You’ll need to bring your own camera. It doesn’t have to be expensive. A phone camera isn’t really enough for this course, though. Some people like to bring a tripod, but you won’t need one for the first few weeks.
Daniel: OK. And is there anywhere to park? I’ll probably drive.
Emma: Yes, there’s a free car park behind the library. Don’t use the one in front of the supermarket, because you have to pay there after six o’clock.
Daniel: Perfect. Thanks very much for your help.
Emma: You’re welcome, Daniel. We’ll send you an email to confirm your place. See you in November!
Narrator: That is the end of Part One.
